I've seen three NL's in the past six months and they all insisted that I simply had migraines. Guess what? It took one NS to see my MRI to correctly diagnose me.

Please keep being persistant and it will pay off.  As for you going to a different NL, why can't you call and just ask for your records and tell them you want a 2nd opionion?  I know how flustraing this can be.  I went to 3 NS before finally finding one that would listen and acturally help me with my CM and I'm so thankful for finding him.  I had a friend tell me.  "You know your body and you kow something is wrong. Keep being persistant and you will find answer's ".  I'm passing this on to you because I'm so thankful that I listened to this and it did pay off.  Wish you the best.

It is so hard when we feel so rotten and no one can help us.  It's so difficult to stay upbeat and positive, to keep going with our heads high.

I'm sorry for your struggles.  I wish it wasn't so hard for us all, just to get someone to help us feel better.  :(

Hi...as I said if u have copies of ur MRI and the reports showing u have Chiari u can go directly to a NS that treats chiari.....

Some NS's out there will treat chiari and not all r true chiari specialists...meaning if ur condition is one that takes a bit more probing to find the issue then a NS that is not a true chiari specialist may not know how to help...and y traveling to one may be ur best option.

DO u need a referral per ur ins?

I can understand a NL not knowing how to help u, I had a rheumatoid dr drop me and I have rhuematoid issues he never addressed..... but when coupled with something they do not know, they want to stay away from it...and it is most likely too much for ur PCP to handle as well, but it does surprise me as their job is to oversee ur care and send u to the proper drs....it is frustrating.

Thanks ladies-
I just looked over the list... and believe it or not I have seen one of them on the list my former nl sent me to see him.. he told me that he didn't think my symptoms are CM realted that I don't have "classic symptoms" and to go back to my nl for a more detailed work up... well we all know how that went... look at the title of this post. I dont know what to do now? The NL i called today wont see me w/o my prior NL reports and I am afraid that the dx of Conversion Disorder will mk it impossiable to get a real dx???? non the less I will fax him my files and see what happens....

I am so sorry to hear this. It really does not make sense at all. The DR that found my Chiari, printed out one page of info on it, said I have never heard of this and I am dismissing you from my practice. THat is her exact words, so I know you must feel lost and shoved aside, frustrated, and scared.Hang in there. The right DR for you will come along, with some persistence.  sending you lots of well wishes

Hi...I know u r frustrated and u r not the first to be told conversion disorder either...I have heard others that had that dx as well....

DO u have copies of ur MRI that show ur chiari?...and a report?

If so, that is all u need to send to a chiari specialist.......

Look at the list of drs we have here on the forum.....there r a few in TX, u will have to research them as not all may be true chiari specialists, but they did successfully treat a member here to get on the list, and this list is not a referral.

Drs can be wrong, and it is possible for us to have more then one condition, but to give u  a dx and wipe their hands of u with no care does not make sense.....

Do look at the list and be advised u may have to travel to get to a true chiari specialist as we do not all have one close to home.
