weird!

Was wondering if anyone else has this happen to them!? I have been having leg cramps off and on. The ones that feel like a ball is in my leg and if I move it tightens up more. I drink plenty of water and take potassium everyday not sure why this happens. This one tonight made my leg numb from my toes to my thigh and I felt the cramp not only in my upper calf but all the way through my leg! Ouch!   Coukd this be just another weird symptom?

WOW, must just be something else we all have to deal with. I went on a walk this morning to work it all out, but still sore! Thanks all for your posts! :)

At this I know that some of you have had the pain last days after the initial cramp or spasm. I get this all the time....the only thing that changes is the length of time afterwards that I have the soreness for.

The reason I asked if u had acid reflux is not that it can cause the cramps, but the meds for it can cause u to not absorb vitamins and minerals thru natural means or supplements.

And what is even stranger for me...Jackie mentioned the toe exercise, but it was in just moving my toes that a cramp would start...even in my toe and spread up to my calf.

My DD would say "Mom look at ur toe"....and next thing I was in pain. It would stiffen up and slowly drop down and I had a cramp. DD also gave me many massages to help loosen the tight muscles.

It has gotten better since surgery....I did have a few a month or so ago...and then last week I had one that the calf pain lasted  a few days.

I notice when I try to wear diff shoes I would get it....

Muscle spasms and cramps have been a huge problem for me too. I didn't really find anything that really helped them either. For me my worst ones would be as soon as I would stand and try to move, everything would just start to seize up...no meds would help which is why walking was so difficult for me.

When sitting or lying...I would feel my foot or whole leg cramp up..I could somewhat release it by moving my toes or leg but it would just go right back as soon as I relaxed. So honestly, I just had to get used to it...sometimes massaging it helped.

I had all the bloodwork done and nothing came back to indicate anything there. My muscle cramps have got a lot better since surgery..so it proves that was the culprit. However, I wish I could get rid of those darn twitches...it feels like some is kicking me!!

WOW!!! And here I thought I was nuts and that I was just having really bad muscle spasms in my legs. I've had this going on for quite some time now. And never knew that it's linked. Who would have thunk....I will definitely try the toe wiggles. Anything at this point is worth a shot. The muscle relaxers my doc has me on is doing a world of nothing.

Happy Monday.

Believe me Jackie we will give everything a shot, as you know from dealing with your DS and his CM that we get many unusual symptoms and very little medical advice (apart from being thought crazy) so any advice or suggestions no matter how stupid they may sound should be taken on board especially when it dose not involve putting chemicals into our body....

Hi. I feel a little awkward replying to this as I'm not the one with chiari. But just going to give my penny's worth.
I used to get this cramp in both my pregnancies. A Nurse recommended to me to wiggle my toes for a few minutes before going to sleep. It worked. I was getting the cramps almost nightly and when I started doing this they stopped. On nites I forgot to wriggle my toes i would get the cramp.
Just an idea.. properly a stupid one.. but no harm giving it a try. If nothing else it will give your toes a little exercise.

Jackie.

I get this as well, it can be very distressing. I was told by my GP to drink tonic water as it has quinine in it. It is quiet bitter but I mix it with lemon juice. Be aware that if you have tinnitus it can make it worse, lesser of two evils lol......

I find that a hot bath or shower helps after the cramps.

nope I don't have gerd or acid reflux. Would that cause this? My whole calf is so painful the everytime I move it cramps up again the whole calf feels bruised. I wonder if heat or cold pack would help?
