Neck pain after surgery

It has been 2-1/2 years since my decompression surgery and have been experiencing new symptoms I don't know what to make of. I also have hydrocephalus (original, 28 years old).
All of these say proms have come up since decompression surgery. When I sleep on my side that has the shunt, I wake up with a splitting headache that takes days to resolve. It also burns like fire and radiates some heat. My NS thinks it is just irritation from an old shunt, and will do nothing for that.
Also, a new thing started about a week ago. When I get a migraine-like headache my neck gets extremely stiff and also goes numb. The best explain action I have is think about the sensation you get when your foot falls asleep, I get that sensation on my neck, at the base of the skull. Help! Should I get a second opinion?

Like a charlie horse?!?!? I had that EXACT feeling in my neck, if that's what you mean.  it was the strangest thing.  Because with your foot you can straighten it out and it will go away.  Not much you can do when it's happening to your neck.  

irritation from an old shunt??  I would find a new surgeon, STAT.  We are shoved to the side so often, and our pain dismissed.  You have to find a doctor that will give you a solution.  Don't take those kind of answers and give up.  There are doctors out there that will help.  We just have the tough job of finding the right one.

  Yes and a third if necessary.....you should not have to deal with these issues....

Do you have EDS as well? Wondering if scar tissue could be a factor.
