weird throat issue?

so, since about wednesday, i have had this weird tight feeling in my throat. it is very sore and it feel like its.....out of place? its hard to describe. it almost feels like it is trying to close though i am having no trouble breathing just a little trouble swallowing. but the swallowing issue is still managable. i have had a few bad migraines that caused me to vomit yesterday and the day before. i just dont know whether i should call my dr or wait for my appt with the NS

  Hi...those throat issues r typical with Chiari....many of us have had the swallowing tests that do not show nething as it is not a physical issue, but a neuro one....

That said u know how u feel and if ur Dr should be called and if u can wait until ur next appointment....not sure when that is, so we can not advise u there.

I also wanted to mention many with Chiari also have reflux that can cause throat issues like this and many have a thyroid issue so make sure ur Dr is aware of this, how long u wait to see him/her is how u feel and when the visit is scheduled.

well, my NL likes to pretend she knows what she is talking about even though we both know she doesnt. so maybe i should wait for my appt with the new NS? he specializes in chiari. i am just waiting on a call to get the appt. do you think i should wait to talk to him? because it hurts but i think as long as i can still eat and breath ok i should be alright to wait

  Only u can decide  on how long u can wait....what about ur PCP....mayb it is  GERD or Thyroid and he can get u started with a treatment till u meet the NS...NS's do not DX so they may not do testing for that....I had my testing for the  thyroid and  GERD done B4 I saw my NS....

that is a good idea. i may just give my pcp a call. i know theyve checked my thyroid before. through a blood test i think? and i was diagnosed with GERD a few years back but since i got my appendix out i havent had issues with it. can you get flare ups with GERD?

  Just make sure they r checking for an auto immune thyroid issue, if they r only looking at ur TSH it may not show a thing....u need the free T3 and free T4 and TPO antibodies along with TSH and a ultrasound of ur thyroid to see if u have ne nodules....also look to family medical history too.

Sure, stress and meds can cause a flare of GERD....and u do not always have heartburn with it so it is possible  and it is linked to Chiari.
