Syrinx and Symptoms

Hello
At a 2nd opinion appointment this afternoon, I was told that only part of my neck/head pain/pressure is caused by the syrinx. The DR (NS) stated that the only part that can be caused by the syrinx is teh pressure I fell  when I tilit my head backwards. He said that my headaches and the rest of the pains in my neck (stiff neck/ hurts when I turn to the side) is coming from something else and refered me to a Neurologist and Physciologist (PT) .
I aslo was told that the tonsils went back into place so the Chiari is no longer visbale on the MRI.
My 1st opinion was that the syrinx is NOT responsible for any of my complaints.
Any suggestions out there?

I can not say this enough, if you don't agree or are confused by what your Dr has to say, get a second opinion. If you are still not convinced you get great info, get a 3rd, and a 4th, and a 5th if you have to. Beat on every door of every NS you can find until you have one that knows his head from, well, other parts of his anatomy. You may be in an area where there are no specialists, but keep searching, they can't all be morons.

Hi....sorry not familiar with those drs.....

I wounder if the pressure of fluid had ur cerebellum underpressure and it released somehow...did u have a surgery?

And I think u mean ur syrinx is too small for a shunt....decompression surgery is for chiari not a syrinx.

Do u have copies of ur MRI's and the reports?

The NS was Dr Adada at the CC in Fla. He said that no one knows why or how the tonsils retract but they are not hanging out as they were on the 2006 MRI
He also said that my other symptoms can be from a pseudotumor and for this he is sending me to another NL and phychiatrist (PT eval) and also an eye Dr.
He said that even if the syrinx is causing my neck pressure when I tilt my head back, the syrinx is too small for decompression surgey.
Right now I have neck stiffness, riniging in ears, throat pressure and pain going from back of neck up into my head.
I have my appt at U of Miami next week.
Has anyone heard of a Dr Nair id Boynton Beach?

Hi...may we ask who u saw ....the NS? Do u know is he a chiari specialist?

U have to remember this is their opinion...unless they are well informed, u r not getting an opinion with  knowledge behind it.

If u feel that u did not get the best info and do not believe it, u need to get to another NS.

Did the dr say how the tonsils retracted?
