FMLA- U get so much time and it can be used weekly or as hours, so if u go back to work u can use some FMLA time to go back part time instead of full time...if u have time that was unused. Once u use FMLA u do have to work 1250 hrs b4 u can request another FMLA leave.
So look into how much of the 12 weeks u used. and it is not yearly it is a rolling 12 months.....
I was a HR manager and know how it was for the state of PA and some companies can play with how they manage FMLA.
@bookworm- that pay policy u noted sounds like a sick benefit offered by ur employer, mine had a similar one and has nothing to do with FMLA,
FMLA is in addition to paid sick benefits as it is a federal law that insures the employer does not replace someone if they are ill or injured.

I attached the law by federal law they only have to keep your position for 12 weeks but many employers have better medical leave policies than the 12 week fmla allowance. For example my fmla allows 12 weeks yet based on length of service with my employer I would be allowed 52 weeks unpaid medical leave. (would not mean same position would be held)
Your right rylanesmom. It doesn't help with getting paid. It just protect's you and your job. I did have to have the paper's filled out every 12 wk's, but I don't think you have to have it renewed until a year. At least that is the way it worked for me in MI.
FMLA does not pay your wages. It will depend on STD or LTD benefits you have enrolled in.

FMLA law is 12 weeks and then it depends on your employer
FMLA (family medical leave absense) I was told this is important to have due to your employer can't fire you at least for the yr you are covered under this. It's operated through the gov't which protect's those of us who get point's for missing work. Having FMLA is good to have because of sisuation's like this. As bookworm say's ask your HR person. Them or your dr should have the form's needed. As for me. Compass Group had their own form I had to have filled out by my Dr. It did save my job for a year at least. Good luck tomorrow.
I'm wondering how the fmla from your company works. I guess mine is the same as short/long term disability because I filled out fmla papers for another issue, not Chiari, and was allowed so many weeks off and received 80% of my pay. My company pays 60% of my check for 0-5 years employed, 80% for 5-10 and 100% for over 10 years. This may not be applicable to everyone but definitely check with your HR department or whoever and make sure you're receiving all the benefits you possibly can.
Yes stress isn't good having Chairi. Just make's the headaches worse. I know every thing will work out for you. I'm thinking of you.
Im not sure if fmla is the same everywhere but for us its paperwork they send to dr to fill out. Its however many unpaid days your dr approves. I was tryin ti hold out til jan because it has to be renewed yearly. And im supposed to be back on sick leave as of the 29th but metlife is screwin with me. Ugh i could scream. But it would just hurt my head lol. Stress.stress.stress. thats what chiari is causing me
Seem's every time you get to take a step forward you fall back a step. Did you ever fill out a FMLA form? I suggest you look into this. Good luck Mon and I hope you get this straighten out. Just relax. Every thing will work out.
