Yes, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea earlier this year. They were surprised. They said I did not have the "throat" of a sleep apnea person, I'm thin, non-smoker, no drugs, don't snore, don't sleep with my mouth open etc. They thought it was just narcolepsy but did the 2 sleep studies and said sleep apnea in addition. I have no obstructive, no central, no hypopnea's but had quite a bit RERA's (respiratory effected related arousals). The RERA's I believe mainly mean that I didn't suffer a full obstruction but my oxygen levels dropped low enough for my body to wake me up to breathe. So I had 185 of these in 6 hours. However, a cpap machine has not really helped. I've used it properly for months and still had 115 RERA's in 6 hours.
Hi ...not everyone with chiari has sleep apnea. But I do know a few that were dx'd post op....so surgery is not a cure for that...but, u would have to talk to someone with this dx to know how it did affect them.
Do u have this dx?
