Hello

I am new here, I am 24 and I have chiari very with vey minimal herniation and NO syrinx,

Please dont ask me to go to doctors or do any tests, I hate them!

My question is what are the early symptoms of chiari ?

I have a migrane headache (one sided), that comes and goes on occasions every now and then, if I speed or voluntarily try to vomit the headache goes away. Not sure if chiari is the true cause.

And I hear 'ticking' at the back of my head whenever I stretch out or sometimes while walking, best way I can describe it is a tick tick tick .. is that chiari related ?

Thank you :)

I hate tests too, but it is the only way you will ever know for sure what is going on with you.....since there are several conditions that are related and  several non related conditions that share the same symptoms as Chiari.....
My Drs ruled out MS, LYMES, LUPUS,SYRINGOMYELIA,EHLERS DANLOS SYNDROME,TETHERED CORD,SLEEP APNEA,POTS,CCI,IIH,HASHIMOTO'S THYROIDITS......and that is the short list.

Not sure what you mean by "early signs of Chiari".....since Chiari is congenital, meaning having since birth,  we tend to not be aware we are having symptoms due to always having them.

What tends to happen is we have an injury, or get a cold and our symptoms flare so we take notice.....and each one of us could have a different symptom that flares for us  even tho we all have Chiari.....

Our individual pain levels and other medical issues as well as personal issues will effect how we percieve our symptoms/flares.

Typically a Chiari headache is described by many as a migraine, but it is generally in the back of the head, can move around to the front, and is triggered by laughing, crying, jumping, bending, coughing, sneezing, and even having a BM. The pain is intense but subsides...leaving a mild pain that never seems to go away.

Unfortunately there is no way to know if your symptoms indicate they are from your Chiari.
