Voices

Last night  I was sitting at the table and I would have sworn that my son spoke to me from the left. I got up to see if he was ok and he was way down the hall in his bedroom.
I just heard the voice in a mumbling way and couldnt work out what was being said but there was no-one there anyway. Perhaps it was just moisture moving around in my ears.
Creeped me out - is this another symptom?

Hello there. Lovely to hear from you. Yes this "voices" thing has happened only twice to me. I definitely heard a childs voice though it was slightly muffled in that unlike you I couldnt make out exactly what was said though it was enough to make me get up and think how did he get over there when i thought he was up in his bedroom (where I did find him). Yes we do have to have a laugh if we can dont we as its a really weird experience to have these things happen. I dont know if it is a syptom of Chiari but I know a couple of people here have experienced it who do have Chiari - so maybe it is a symptom which can manifest and which again may not - depending on one thing or another. Its just nice to talk about things like this here and not feel like everyone thinks  - oh here's a fruit cake!!!!
I have just got some results back from a spinal scan and there doesnt appear to be any complications in my spine from the chiari. It appears I have some early arthritis in my spine which is causing back ache and shooting pain down my left arm. This is good news for me as I was of course expecting all sorts of horrible things. These results however have been given to me by my general practitioner and I see the neurosurgen again on the 27th jan for a more in depth discussion on it. So here's hoping. I am up for a chat anytime so keep in touch. How are you? You have a chiari? And what is your diagnosis and what action are you taking with it?
Thankyou
Sue

It's nice to have fun and joke, after all the subject just screams to be made fun of.  My name is Sandra (Rosebud3) and I experience hearing voices as well.   Is it a symptom of Chiari,  I don't know.  I can be sitting at the computer and hear someone ask for a drink of water and I will get up and begin walking to the kitchen before I realized there was no one there.I have had many instances of this sort of thing.  No, I'm not schizophrenic  that's one diagnosis I don't have.  My voices are clear as if someone was stand/sitting right next to me when speaking.  Sometimes I even find myself answering the voices.  It is very scarry and not funny at all when it's real and a part of your life.  Many people experience this on occation, like when you think you heard your spouse say something.  What I'm talking about is different.  If your voice was muffled to where you could hardly hear it  and you have experienced this only once I wouldn't worry  andy more it would be good to consult you physician.  If you have to, do not be ashamed.  You did not ask for it It found you.  Wish you luck Hursty, If you want to talk more let me know.

We sure do!.........but I think like your wife. The East coast has the dangerous one "the sydney funnel web" - you dont want to meet that one. We dont have them over this side - thank heavens. We do have some big hairy spiders over here but they are harmless ones (apart from the sweaty hands, and utter fear you feel through the body when you see one - I mean what do you do - squash it????? - put a leash on it and lead it out the door???) I get my hairy husband to deal with it. Bless him!

I've always wanted to visit Australia, but my wife is aracnaphobic - and y'all got some big, hairy, scary spiders under there.

Lol.........I was a bit afraid I might be going skitzo as well hearing voices and all (sincere apologies and no offence intended to anyone who may have this debilitating condition) - but no they havent told me to do anything bad (the voices I mean).............like you said it was just kind of muffled but i could have sworn he was there and I had to get up and check that my son was in his bedroom where my husband said he was.
My house cant be spooked - just built it. If it was our last house at the old farm which we sold last year I would have thought "distant relative talking" - even that house talked!!!
Hope someone buys you some pink cotton candy real soon! :)
(we call it "fairy floss" in Aussie land)

Seriously (although, I'm not necessarily ruling out ghosts :), some medication can cause Auditory Hallucinations. Let your doctor know, but it's probably nothing to be overly concerned with - assuming of course they don't start telling you to do bad things.

I seem to recall having some soon after my operation. Mine sounded like someone or ones were talking just barely in my hearing range, other times I thought I heard music coming up lightly through the airvents. I even once went to make my son turn off his radio, but he was asleep and no radio was on.

I also had Visual Hallucinations occasionally - if the lights were out and I just had a small amount of background light, it would look like the room was filled with cotton or cottoncandy - I even got a red/pink "feel" even though it was always pretty dark. That happened a few times the first couple of months, but hasn't happend lately - I kinda miss my cotton candy filled room :)
