surgery in a week, starting to panic

My surgery is scheduled for September 3rd, one week from today. I was so excites dttoinally had a solution to a problem I have had for so long. As soon as the said it might help I was on it. My quality of life has gotten really bad and have become desperate. Now that the surgery is a week away I am being to panic a bit. I have read any of the questions and answers posted on here, an  it has helped a lot. I'm not really asking a question because I have so many, I'm asking for little tips or advice for after surgery to help things go smoother or easiest!

Being scared is normal.  Surgery is scary, but it does have its benefits.  I had mine in 2012 and feel a lot better   You are on the prayer list.

Stay positive! Surgery is scary, and it is painful, but the benefits can be truly amazing! When I woke up in recovery after my surgery on August 4th, I could instantly tell that my legs felt like brand-new.

I'm looking forward to hunting season in a few weeks and I really like the way surgery has made me feel, so there is hope!

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

We do have a prayer thread ...post your surgical date there to have a prayer thread posted for you.

It is very scary, and it would not be normal to not be scared......

There is a thread with tips for the hospital stay....http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Neurological%20Disorders/Tips-for-the-Hospital-Stay/show/1136?cid=186

The members here have added to this list after they had surgery with tips to help others....

Once home it is important that you rest and not try to do daily activities too soon...walking and neck exercises they give you while in the hospital are the 2 important things to do as well as take meds on schedule and not wait till pain starts or the meds will not help...keep ahead of the pain.....make sure you have a stool softener.....have patience and rest , rest and then rest some more.
