After Chiari Decompression Surgery

Ok, I'm 3 wks post-op from the Chiari Decompression, and I feel like crap!!! lol
I cant help but wonder if this is expected; nevermind that my gorgeous physicians assistant says that it is.........I'm wondering if anybody else is having the same problems?
Therefore I have a few questions and would be greatful for a response.........

1. I'm still having massive headaches?
2. I have absolutely no energy?
3. I still get nauseous alot?
4. I've had the hiccups for 3 wks!!

I was very nauseous and threw up for two weeks after surgery, I lost 10 pounds because I couldn't keep anything down.  I then switched from my pain med (Norco) to Tylenol 8 hr extra strength, which kept the pain managable for six hours.

I was also very tired and felt like an old lady.  I could barely walk a block's distance with out being exhausted, I couldn't even move my legs very fast or very far (stride).  My husband would push me around in a wheel chair if we went to run errands.  At home we would take short walks together.

I don't remember having the head pain, expcet when the meds wore off.  I didn't have hiccups, but I did have reflux and was prescribed something for that, and the nausea too...which I threw up, lol.

All the best in your recovery.  Please take it easy, this surgery is an investment and you need to care for your body.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

So sorry u r feeling so poorly...in fact, I felt euphoric almost perfect after surgery.....it was the drugs....I did not have massive HA's...but was still getting some.....energy was low...especially at 3 weeks....goodness, it can take up to 2 yrs to heal from this.

What meds r u taking, mayb the nausea is from them?

hmmmm hiccups.....do u have reflux?...or a hiatal hernia?

Some of us do feel like this afterward and may have another issue going on.....have they looked at u since u reported feeling like this?

DO u have HA's in ne position?...or just when upright?...after some activity?

I am happy to welcome u to our little family, so sorry for the reason u had to seek us out.
