I went to bed last night after a regular supper; then shortly there after no warmimg - no upset stomach and then it was sick sick sick.  I barely made it to the porcelan god.  LOL.

After that it was back to bed, woke once for a short time listened to it rain and back to sleep.  I woke up with a headache - and took the happy pills of valium and perocet.  Its now getting more like AKOM _MOTA worry free, just like in the LION KING.  Howe ever
I am running low on the vitamins and the appt. is not till monday at 10:00 am.

I can only imagine the fun that I may have till then.  Being to work helps, some of the guys asked me, what is wrong why are you walking so slow?  I told them that I am not feeling all that great today.  I am usually the life of the party and I have been told that I am the best dispatcher that there is out of the 5 of us.  I come to work and bust my *** everyday.  I enjoy my work immensley and look forward to helping people that are in crisis most of the time.

I cannot discuss the specifics of any of the calls.  They are 9-1-1 emergency calls - it is HIPPA and privacy.  Sometimes I wonder how things turn out after the firemen get there and the ambulance and so on.  From time to time I see the names in the list of people that have passed on to the next life.

Yes,

Here in Bellevue nebraska it has rained most of the week, I do believe the weather has something to do with levels of pain, my work schedule is like this: one week I work 0600 to 1800 or a 12 hour shift;Sunday,Monday, tuesday.  The next week it is Sun, Monday, tues, wednesday.  for a total of an 84 hour pay period each week.  There is over time that comes along from time to time.,  We all need vacation days, people get sick, family emergencies and so on.  There is training that we have to attend - usually 2 at a time and the others have to pick up the slack and then the other two will go to the training the next month and so on.

Hey Roy,
I am so sorry that you are feeling that bad. You really have an important job, but I am sure a very satisfying one helping people.
All I can say is you have to stretch everything out till Monday. IT is weird with the Valium though sometimes when I take it and I feel it starting to work I think that feels good. All the muscles are starting to relax but sometimes when I take it I don't like the feeling.
I am very weird when it comes to medicine.
I wish I could take a perc. once in a whle but they tend to make me a little itchy. I may talk to the doctor again about them. I was told that it is quite common for people to feel itchy from them. One W.C. doctor wanted me to take them but first he wanted me to take something before hand so I wold not get itchy, but that the first pill would make me tired. I was still working at that time with special ed kids. Could you see me in there taking them 2 pills, I would have had to go to sleep on the kids bean bags. I take like half of a very low dose Valium and I feel it let alone 2 pills and one of them a perc. But, I do need something sometimes for pain. I refused the oxy pills. I do not even want to go down that path.
Feel better soon. Do you work on the weekends? Get as much rest as you can and hopefully the stomach has calmed down a bit. Is it raining where you are now? My DD had a rough few days with the rainy weather. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I always hated the er when they called in and said life flight was on their way.      your heart stops and you know you have to move and move fast it isnt the day or the time to not get an IV on the first stick......I know not the same as getting the call and getting everyone dispatched.............

I hope u are feeling better  : )

I think the most stressfull calls are those that are in-flight emergenices.

Things have to happen very fast - and there is absolutly no room for error.  The info comms in on the Prim. Crash phone one time.  Then it is a mad house so to speak.

Things are very tense as the plane comes in, and it goes from there.  There are so many things that have to happen almost all at once.

That is the stressfull part of the job, I can handle, injuries, baby problems, adult problems, car wrecks, fire alarms and so on.  But there is nothing like an inflight emergency.

A lady called and said that her daughter had been stung by a bee.  She needed the Fire dept. R-6 was dispatched.  The young person was fine. So there was no history in her family.  Bee stings can be bad - and yes for me as well.

So why did she call???  She knew that her daughter would be fine as she had been stung before???

Oh Roy I really hope it was just food poisoning.....ok  that didnt sound at all how I meant it.  I just mean I hope it isnt the flu, or worsening chiari symptoms.   Get plenty to drink even though you may be feeling a little better you still need to nurse your self back to good health.

Get better soon : )

and I have to know, I am sure you have some very interesting calls coming in to that are in no way actual emergencies.   I know my dad  (he's a cop)  gets sent from our 911 all the time to calls where someone didn't want to kill a spider or something like that and I swear the ambulances around here are used as taxis this one lady called for a broken everything and once they picked her up she asked them to take her through burger king first she hadnt even fallen  she was just hungry and needed a ride................ medicaid pays ambulances  not taxis

anyways just wondered if you had any funny non specific stories

Hi Roy...I used to vomit with out an upset stomach or vertigo prior to surgery...would just come on all of a sudden.....

My father was superintendent of communications for the city...he was also a dispatcher for fire calls and then 911 calls so I know that drill...wow how can u handle the stress of that position along with chiari?
