chiari needs neuro-opthalmologist

I had decompression (brain) surgery for Chiari December 2008 and my vision and balance are still bad. Does anyone know of a GOOD neuro-ophthalmologist anywhere within  5 or 6  hour drive from Dallas TX? Or ANYWHERE for that matter!

Yes, sorry Cleveland would be so far for you...I would call Dr. Lystad's office and let her know she is spoken highly of in the visual realm of Chiari (I was the one who posted the referral).  She may be offer some insight as to a dr that would be closer for you.  Does your NS have any ideas?  My NS was the one that rec'd Dr Lystad--she *knows* CM...and I just love her style--down-to-earth, obv intelligent, joked with me when I joked about my 'wonky vision', kind...just love her!  I was actually in tears when I left her office b/c that was the first time I had felt any sense of hope about this diagnosis.  Feel free to message me if you want to use my name as a referrer :)

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

We do have a dr list here on MedHelp....I added the link below...on the thread we do have one ophthalmologist that has worked with chiari patients....
May I ask, when was ur last MRI?..were u checked for scar tissue or the formation of a syrinx?

Works closely with Dr. Di and sees a good number of CM patients.  Very well-informed about visual disturbances related to CM and was also able to rule out other opthalmology issues (ie. nothing physically wrong with the eyes, CM causing the issues)
