Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
I see u have not joined the chiari forum and I wonder do u have chiari or syringomyelia?
The thread here is talking about depth perception as it relates to chiari and related conditions.....
Have u had a brain MRI to rule out ne issues...a cervical spine MRI?
Those with chiari also have issues in darkened rooms as well in bright lights.....
DO talk to ur Dr and have some testing to see what may be the root of ur issues....u can not continue to ride motorcycles if u continue to have these issues.
Please keep us posted

I've had similar problems with running into stuff. I can't tell exactly how close or far something is from me. It's not like I can't tell at all, but it is definitely a bit off. The other thing is when I'm reading in a room where it is too bright or dark and I can't focus my eyes on the words so it makes my head hurt.
it's interesting to hear you say your scores on the range went down! that was one thing that i could do! and still can! my first shot always hits just above the chest, below the subjects right shoulder and ever other shot is center mass. don't know how, don't know why....my instructors always used to laugh at me because they'd be standing there with there mouths open and i was shaking in my boots thinking i had missed the target all together! i could never tell if i had hit the thing or not! go figure that one out! lol! oh....but this was with a hand gun...not a rifle. with a rifle, i couldn't hit the side of a barn! lol that's another "go figure"!

I have had this problem during my time in the army in 1999 while going through a truck drivers course at Fort Lenoard wood Missourri, But I got through the eye test; I could not figure things out all at once. This was way before I had any idea that I had chiari CLUE #1
I was also starting to have trouble at the rifle ranges as well determining distances, my hit ratio went way down. I could not figure out why; I used to shoot 36 out of 40 all the time then things started going down hill Clue #2.
Then once I was discovered to have chiari when I park straight to me; it is at an angle / but seems straight. When parking in parking lots; look to see where the other cars are parked
to the left and right of you.
Same as when driving.. It works for me, I do not have any problem with night driving at this time.
lol...we r wonky, night vision was a very big issue for me when my DD was in College in Philly...driving home was horrible...but I got thru somehow...now I am not allowed to drive for various reasons....and if the dr said it was ok, I think fear would keep me from it at least at night....lol....
I could never cut straight either...or hold my head straight for that matter....so I guess that is y we see it wonky....lol...
I too have huge night driving problems, so dont do it anymore, my daughters complain that in the day I drive to close to kerbs or oncoming traffic.
I have huge probs hanging things straight or cutting in straight lines, what appears straight to me is wonky to everybody else.

i've always had a problem parking....can't really tell how close to the curb or other cars i am. presented a slight problem during defensive tactics training when i went thru the academy and if there were strobe lights, dancing presented a bit of a challenge. since surgery, this has not notably changed. i still have those issue. personally, i blame it on the compression of the brainstem for so long. heck....a lifetime of compression! i didn't have the ha or other craziness going on until after my accident in 2001 when i fractured my spine at several levels. in 2008, my symptoms became very bad and i believe this was due to a blockage of csf that progressively got worse until my surgery in nov. of 2009. just my humble opinion!
Why is this happening? I too find driving at night a problem. A couple of weeks ago I got lost coming home from a place I'm very familiar with. I think it's because it was night time. I became disoriented. Really weird. This seems impossible. Why is this happening? I was never like this until this past couple of years and really bad this past year. Is there anything that can be done to help?
This is one of my chief complaints. It's horrible. I'm always running into things. I bashed my head on my car door because I misjudged how close I was to it. Driving is the worse as I can't tell how far away the other cars are when i'm at an intersection so I either pull out infront of them and almost get hit or I sit there forever waiting for there to be no more cars. Night driving is almost compltely out of the question for me. When another car is coming my way I can't see anything except their headlights. I'm almost blind just trying to walk around my yard at night, much less drive.
I have had issues with this forever, even before I was diagnosed. Last week I bent over to pick up something and whacked my head on a towel rack. I have fallen down stairs and broken my leg and just numerous other catastropies. Its hard to be careful all the time but I think we have to! I have been a big cluttz(sp?) as long as I can remember.
Hi...yup...me too, in fact I found this to be an issue with my night driving.....I kept saying my depth perception was off....and it also reminded me when I was pregnant and not used to my big belly.....and then I wasn't sure was it just my balance.,..but, I know I was not able to determine the depth btwn spaces.....
This can be scary and unsafe...so refrain from driving.
