fantom vibrations

I am getting this sensation that my cell phone is vibrating in my sweater pocket. Im not wearing the sweater anymore but I keep getting this sensation every so often. It started 2ish days ago, should I be worried ? It is very prominent, I have been grabbing the area when it happens. Im not sure how to describe the exact sensation. A cross between pins and needles, numbness, and muscle spasm. Just in one baseball sized area to the left and below my belly button. It lasts a few seconds, to many minutes. And it doesnt seem to be triggered by anything. My lower thoracic spine has been hurting more than usual, maybe this could be linked?    Does this sound familiar to any1?     Oh, and Im getting really sick of having to go pee like every 30 minutes.     Stacey

My husband asked me one time why I didn't answer when he called me and I just laughed and told him I just thought it was me vibrating. I do not Chiari but I have problems with my low back and neck. I have been told by a few different doctors that it sounds like a small muscle spasms or a nerve misfiring. they never heard of it before. When I describe it I just say it goes buzz...buzz...buzz. I don't know how else to describe it.
I did notice the last few months that I think it is coming from my neck. I always thought it was my low back because where the buzzing was but I found that when I put my head down and to the side the buzzing shoots right to the spot.
I know how you feel about it though. It don't hurt, it is just really annoying.

HI Stacjy,

I get those sensations all over my body, especially in my joints (hip, knee). I am pretty sure it is very small muscle spasms combined with the normal vibrating feeling I seem to get. It was funny, today I was out and had my cell phone in my pocket and I let it ring on forever b/c I thought it was just my body!! My sister actually had to call me twice!!

That's ok Selma, I understand.  Im waiting to hear back from Dr. Ellenbogen, and a local neurologist. Hopefully I can get  thoracic MRI soon from one of the 2. I asked my GP and she didnt want to order anything, but that cuz a neuro might want specific radiology like with dyes and cine mri. She is right but man I hate waiting!    Stacey

Hi Stacey,
I have seen several posts on this topic and it does sound like u may have an issue with tethered cord.....

Have u been checked for TC? The need to eliminate frequently can be cause to recheck this if it was done and felt to not be an issue, the other thing to look for is a syrinx.

I hope it all calms down a bit for u, but do look into ruling these out if u haven't already.Sorry I can not remember  ur complete history.
