Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
The e-mail was **'d out as it is against TOS here on MedHelp, but we do have PM's which r private messages.
Many have to travel to get to a good Dr for Chiari as the poster mentioned this one Dr was not able to help her and she traveled to Miami.
May I ask what surgery ur DD had already that she has a CSF obstruction?
Cindi, my 5 yr old has chiair, about to have her second surgery. Please contact me on FACEBOOK Sara Eufaula Booker, or email me at ***@**** Her MRI showed she was blocked for her CSF flow. and I have a ton of questions. Thanks. Sara
Cindy,
Thanks so much for the positive feedback on Dr. Green. I was going to ask about him as well. I now have renewed hope as I was so crushed today when I called to make an appt. with Dr. Lewis and was told after several minutes of going through the appt. process which was for March 14th that "Oh, I'm sorry we cannot accept that Ins."
Maybe that was a good thing afterall so I would continue to search. I will be calling Dr. Green first thing Monday Morning and praying he will accept my Ins. I just didn't want to make an 800 mile roundtrip for nothing so your experience gives me that boost that I SOOO needed Thank You :)
I wish you luck in your upcoming surgery and Pray all goes well with it. I can't wait to hear how it goes and I am so happy you finally have the ball rolling in the right direction :)
((Hugs)) Stacie
I guess it really doesn't matter because once again I've had the door slammed in my face!! Just like 90% of the Dr.s I call they wont accept my Ins. I'm so sick and tired of never getting anywhere in this neverending rat race!!
I'm never going to get "Specialist" care with this bottom of the barrell Ins., But I'm never going to get on my feet to get good Ins without recieving proper care. It really is like running nonstop on a hampster wheel.
Jocelyn,
I will look Dr.Trumble up and give them a call and maybe by the grace of God they will accept my Ins., Thanks for the suggestion :)
Hi Stacie,
I'm not sure if you are willing to drive to Orlando, but there is a chiari specialist near Florida Hospital South. His name is Dr Trumble. I am trying to get a referral to see him, but he is out of network, my PCM is trying to push for it though. Hope this helps.
Jocelyn

I wrote on Jocelyns thread also. I have seen Dr. Balis and Dr. Green. Based on my experience My recommendation is to take the extra drive to Miami. I chose to see Dr. Balis because he was listed as a Chiari specialist and was very disappointed. He is a nice guy but really did nothing for me. He referred me to another NS in Tampa for a second opinion who had no real Chiari experience.
I took a chance and my husband and I went to Miami to see Dr. Green. It was about a two month process between sending my records, accepting my case and my appointment. I have traveled to Miami 3 times to see him and am now planning for Surgery in June. My original surgery date was March 8th but I had to change it until June.
During my last visit (Feb 16th) Dr Green asked if I would participate in a Chiari Study with another Dr who has received funding from the NIH. Apparently a new MRI is being tested for Chiari patients that measures Quantitative CSF flow. Very Exciting to be a part of this and awesome for Chiari sufferers that there is active research for our "disorder".
I am happy to answer any questions for you and I can give you his schedulers contact info.
Hope this helps!
Cindy
