I once again want to thank you for all the help and information that you send out to all of us. Because of you I once again started back on my Vitamin's. I quite taking them while going through this healing process. After reading your post on Vit. I am now taking them every day and also went out and bought Mag. which I never took before. You are so so helpful. Thanks so much.
To ur question about those with chiari having this...yes, those with GERD and chiari or EDS and chiari...both GERD and EDS cause mal absorption of vitamins....
So this could be one or 2 reasons.....and I am sure there are more.
Most people get more than enough B12 from eating meat, eggs, milk, and cheese. Normally, the vitamin is absorbed by your digestive system-your stomach and intestines. Vitamin B12 deficiency anemia usually happens when the digestive system is not able to absorb the vitamin.
Having vitamin B12 deficiency means that your body does not have enough of this vitamin. You need B12 to make red blood cells , which carry oxygen through your body. Not having enough B12 can lead to anemia, which means your body does not have enough red blood cells to do the job. This can make you feel weak and tired.
Hi,
I was diagnosed several years ago with B12 deficiency. I went for shots for four weeks and I now take a 1mg sublingual supplment. If you end up needing a supplement, look for one that is made from methylcobalamin, not cynocobalamin. Some people with a deficiency can't absorb the cynocobalamin.
I don't know if there is a connection with Chiari ans B12. When I was diagnosed with the deficiency I had an MRI to rule out MS, and that is when the Chiari was found. Unfortunately, the neurologist who ordered it didn't really inform me of what Chiari is or means. So I just started learning about it when I had a repeat MRI a few months ago.
