Give her Benefiber or Metamucil every day, don't give her foods that block the stool, do give her grape juice. Google "encopresis" and read up on it, that is what you are trying to prevent. Take the issue very seriously, it can turn into a really long-term problem if you are casual about it. See the pediatrician for more advice.
Talk to your pediatrican first but ours put my son on "gummy fiber" from Walmart. It took a week or so to see the difference. Then he started going everyday. I took our child to an Urologist and he told us that constipation is the #1 reason he sees kids in his office for bladder issues. He told us fiber is a good thing for kids and they don't get near enough. Goodluck.
Hi there. My boy has had severe constipation issues in the past --- so much so he has been in the hospital. We were given papers from the hospital which included simple grape juice as a great way to help with constipation. We buy the one that has added fiber in it for an added bonus. I also increased he amount of fresh fruit and water and decreased dairy including yogurt and milk. He still gets enough but he lOVES that so he was heavy on it. Eating things like oatmeal and granola bars also helped. But I tell ya, that grape juice is the best. You could also buy baby food prunes and put it in another dish and call it purple pudding (it actually tastes pretty good). Fruit smoothies are good.
Good luck, it is painful for these little guys.
One other tip, my husband told my son that water helps (which in the big picture, it does) and my son will ask for one during a troublesom potty time. Placebo effect, he thinks it really helps. goodluck
