Grandaughter's love!!!

I have a lovely five and a half year old granddaughter; she is the oldest of three (a brother 3 and a sister 1).  She used to be very close to me, and loved to play together.  Recently she doesn't like when I visit, doesn't want to play, and is a little rude. Should I ignore it, and not feel hurt? Being my first granchild, she has a special spot in my heart!!

It is a phase...and you are right...the first grandchild does hold a special place in your heart and I can see how it would be hurting you.  I am not a grandmother yet...for a long time...but, my mother has told me of that special bond with the first.  This too shall pass!  She LOVES you.  I don't feel that treating her any differently than you always have will work...only make it worse.  I have to disagree with RockRose...sry.  She is only 5 and will not understand that...put youself in her little shoes.  I am also sure that you love your other 2 sooo much and don't deprive them of any attention as it is.  Keep doing what you are doing...ensure her that she is still just as special to you now as she has always been.  Possibly sit her down and have a one on one with her and see how she is feeling.  Maybe she is scared of losing your love because of the other 2.  See what I'm saying?

Well,  you got three grandkids there - I bet if you start lavishing attention on the other two you'll see her change right quick!

Best wishes.

You should definately know that she still loves you very much.   Believe me...I know all about this.  My daughter who 7 has a 2 yr old sister.  She went through that stage when my baby was born...and even still does now.  It's just that little bit of competition she has is all.  She loves her gammy very much...this, I am sure of!
