Walkers are illegal here too, but try one of those fun centers. Like a walker, but they can't go anywhere. Ryder loved his. We had a really tiny kitchen as well until recently, so I could put it kind of in the doorway so he was well away from the stove and any grease spatter or anything. The other thing I did was put him in his highchair with a snack and milk and just talked to him the whole time. Of course, they only have 30 second attention spans, so not always effective.
It is completely normal I think. I wouldn't worry about spoiling him..your just loving him like crazy!!
Until they were able to walk, my kids didn't tolerate being put down somewhere for the length of time it would take me to fix even a quick dinner, so he's like my kids. ;D I think that's pretty standard baby behavior.
Sorry walkers are illegal. : ( Kids just LOVE them. I guess if you're not careful they can go down stairs on them accidentally, but with a little vigilance they're safe.
Thanks ladies. The cupboards I don't mind....I just have a small kitchen! LOL so I'm stepping all over him and sometimes it's just not safe with me cooking at the same time.
I live in Ontario so walkers are actually illegal to use here. I wouldn't be able to get one if I wanted...he'd get stuck everywhere anyway!! LOL
I'll survive!! My concern is whether it was normal or not. It just came out of no where and I don't want him to end up being a crazy suckie or as his grandpa calls him "spoiled"!! haha
I agree with Adgal, and I also used a baby walker. That way, my little one could be sitting UP, next to you, and mobile around the kitchen with little treats on the table part of the walker. I used a really simple one, like this one, and it was great.

Yep, it's a stage. Ryder went through that as well..still does from time to time. Glued to me for a week or two, then back to being able to play independantly. I have locked all my kitchen cupboards with baby locks except 2. Those two contain things like tupperwear, wooden spoons, etc. and he sits and plays with those while I make dinner. This way he is close to me and I can still do what I need to do in the kitchen. Don't worry, it passes. It comes back again, but it passes.
