My son is 11 years, old and seems to have an issue with his hands and mouth. He has always put everything in his mouth to the point where teachers have mentioned it to me as a concern. I've struggled to stop him from biting is finger nails and toe nails, he eats his buggers and has an incredible appetite for unhealthy foods, i.e. anything with cheese, ice cream, fattening foods, candy. We are careful that we control his food intake so he's not unhealthy or overweight (about 85 lbs.,) but we don't make his life miserable by dening him all the time either. However, since he told me that he still eats buggers, and I can't seem to get him to stop biting his nails, I've started to wonder if he has a kind of hand to mouth addiction. I've heard that smokers gain weight because they have nothing to put in their mouths with their hands after they stop smoking. I've also wondered about the possibility that he might have a nutritional deficiency that I should check for. I'd appreciate any help, advice or feedback.
