Cholesterol is basically a waxy fat like substance found in the body. Cholesterol is usually made in the liver and some part of it occurs naturally in all the parts of the body. Cholesterol is required by the body to build the cell walls and produce hormones for the brain, skin and other organs to function well. Cholesterol is transported through the blood stream by lipoproteins. These are made up of protein on the outside and fat in the inside.
