Hello and welcome to the forum. We so appreciate your question and do advise first and foremost to work with your doctor on the best plan. Your cholesterol panel obviously has elevated numbers, however, you don't sound to have other risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Often in that situation, patients are encouraged to make some lifestyle changes to see if it can impact the numbers. Your total cholesterol range is high as they want that to be under 200 and once it passes 239, it is considered high. Your LDL is also high as they want that under 100 and your HDL is low, they want that to be at least 40 as a man of your age. LDL and HDL go into the total cholesterol so improving these will lower that number. https://www.healthline.com/health/high-cholesterol/levels-by-age#adults. Your doctor may recommend medication such as a statin agent to improve these numbers. Or they may recommend starting with lifestyle changes.
