Lung reconstructive surgery

I have severe COPD.  Is there a ereconstructive lung surgery that will greatly improve my breathing?  I really need help so maybe I can actually go to the grocery store and/or pick up my grandchild, etc.

In the UK there is LVRS (lung volume reduction surgery) This only works if its the upper lobes that are damaged. They removed the upper lobes which enables the healthier lower lobes to work more efficiently. Lung transplants are an option but criteria are pretty strict and obviously lungs are in short supply. They are also working on a valve system but thats a way off from being a standard option as far as i'm aware.

Ther is sugery they can do. Go to your lung doctor and talk to him about lung transplants or stints. I am on the list for a double lung trans plant but am thinking about the stints instead.

There is such a surgery. It is only resorted to in serious cases. I suggest you google it on the internet.

I have not heard of such a surgery.  You have to rely on medications to breath and when it gets bad enough they will recommend oxygen.  My mom uses a nebulizer certain times of the day.  Then if she has to go out and needs a little extra something to get her through it, she will use a proventil inhaler.  There are different medications for COPD.  Find the one that works best for you.  My mom liked combivent to add to her treatments, but she can't afford it anymore.

If you have heart issues, that will affect you breathing also. To strengthen the heart and help the arteries, look into taking hawthorn 2 or three times a day.  It is a wonderful and safe herb but must be taken forever once you start.  It will only work as long as it is being used.  It does not cure anything.  Before use, my mom had a few mild heart attacks and has not had any since taking the herb.  Also, if the heart is stronger, breathing will be better.
