Pinched nerve

Can a pinched nerve be the cause of COPD? I was just diagnosed with COPD but the only symprom I have is occasional SOB. I do not have a cough, nor phlem. Stopped cigarettes 27 years ago and cigars 11 years ago.
After a full hour of water aerobics, I do not have any breathing issues. A cold gust of wind may cause SOB.
I do not have full flexibility of the left three fingers of my left hand (small to middle). I have not yet asked my PCP this ?, but the chiropractor stated that apparent pinched nerve might be related to the COPD ??

Any comments ?

Just FYI - The reason Asthma is not considered as COPD is that it is reversible.  All other forms of COPD are irreversible.  That means that the inflamation of asthma can be reduced.  Or, someone classified as severe asthmatic may find more effective treatment and be lowered to mild.  All forms of COPD are progressive (maintained is the goal).

Mike1043's suggestions and thoughts are very good.

If you are not showing symptoms then why were you diagnosed with copd?  Copd is an umbrella term used to house several lung diseases. Resently they have taken Asthma out of it. I don't know why. Now it just umbrellas Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema. Cystic fibrosis and lung cancer can also reside under that umbrella.  Restrictive (Interstital) Lung Disease  is also considered. This one is just technical for scaring of the lung. It interferes breathing and oxygen flow as it makes the lungs and airways stiff and rigid.
If your Doctor suspects copd there are a number of tests he will put you through to determine what type your copd is so the right meds can be given. I doubt very seriously that a pinched nerve can cause copd. Have you had your heart checked? SOB can be a sign of a blockage or some other heart issue. Copd is the new cash cow and sometimes heart issues can be misdiagnosed. Don't mess with it. Get it checked out. Don't trust the stress test. Dye don't lie. My husband almost died after he was told he was ok based on the stress test. When they ran the dye they found 3 arteries blocked 90 persent and 1 at 85 persent and 1 at 70. He underwent 5 bypasses so be careful. If you do have copd find out what kind.
Good luck and Gods speed.

Chiros are good for some things.  When they start saying that a miss alignment or pinched nerve is causing another illness, they definitely lose me.  There are some documented cases where chiropractic care has improved respiratory symptoms.   My chiro never claimed to be able to cure my asthma.  He did hope to improve my symptoms some, which didn't happen.  I should respect him more than I do for that, I guess.  lol  I personally doubt that a pinched nerve is causing your COPD.

Anyway, you are in a very high risk category for COPD.  Chances are that you just plain have COPD, probably in early stages.  If you are agressive about control now, you should be able to live the active life you are used to for a very long time.

Take care and feel better.
