CONT . . .
Sorry; don't know what happened there!

ukgb, PLEASE look up reliable sites on COPD/Lung disease to get the detailed info you need. Ask your pulmonary doctor.

You are very lucky if your CT Report suggests "early" emphysema. Most people do not show signs of emphysema until they are "moderate" or "severe".

You have a chance to halt any damage in it's tracks. Stay off cigarettes and live a healthy lifestyle, and your lungs will age more or less the same as a healthy non-smoker, and there is no reason why shouldn't live to be 100 yrs old!

Avoid all irritants, smokey atmosperes, avoid coughs and colds. Most of all, stay off the cigarettes which is what causes the damage to your alveolii, your lower airways, which is what causes emphysema.

I'm not sure, but the rest of your report sounds pretty good, too.

Good Luck!

I am not sure from what you posted but go online and google how to read a pft report and it will explain how they determine if it is restrictive or obstructive and will also explain how to know the stage you are in if you have it.

Sorry I cannot help you, but mine also sounds like yours.  Some small apical bulla.  But they say this is copd/emphasyma?  I think for sure we may need to see a pulmonary physician.

I stopped smoking when I heard the nurse tell me emphasyma.  I thought the Dr should have called me in to tell me this, but that didn't happen.

I hope someone can help you or the both of us.
