There are always risks that goes along with anesthesia.  It is best to consult with your doctor to determine whether your mom can tolerate it or not.  I'm sure your doctor will analyze her carefully and appropriately prior to the procedure.

hi spiker
i have severe copd and was rushed into hospital with pneumonia, they had to cut a hole in my throat and feed a breathing tube into it, i survived that operation no problems,so i am lying there with chronic copd a tempory trachea and serious pneumonia when i had terrible abdominal pains, it was discovered i had a  strangulated
hernia, which required a immediate operation or i would be dead in a couple of hours,
the surgion said it was the biggest hernia tear he had ever come across so it was a pretty big operation, i suvived that as well, like you i was worried i was not in good enough condition to survive all this surgery but they assured me the human body can take a fair bit of punishment, i used to be scared to go to the dentist but after what i went through it no longer bothers me i just go and get it done, have a chat to your doctor and dentist good luck.

That is a very good question. I too have COPD/emphysema. I am needing my teeth extracted, so I can get false teeth. Maybe someone can answer our question.
