I dont understand what happened to my father; death caused by chirrosis

Its hard to understand everything that happened at the hospital, need closure.
According to EMT records 911 was called at 4:05 am by "friend" stating that my father had been throwing up blood all night ambulance came at 420am stating that they found my father laying on couch next to a cup half filled of dark blood when he was taken to the hospital he was concious and talking. Arrived at hospital 5 am but wasnt contacted until 12pm by doctor telling to come to the hospital because he was in critical condition ICU, when i arrived at the hospital my dad was intubated no longer concious and bleeding through his mouth and nose non stop , i asked why they took so long to contact they said i wasnt in the hospital records. Since I was his health proxy they had me signed procedures that needed to be done, since he had lost a lot of blood he was giving blood at the hospital but that didnt help he kept bleeding from an erupted esophageal vein bleeding from his mouth and nose and down there immediately they said they had to do an endoscopy to find the erupted vein so they can band it after 3 atemps they failed to find where the bleeding was coming from they said there was too much blood the camera couldnt see it. After the first atempt the doctors took our family to a conference room and said they ran out of options and that my dads heart could stop any minute and that we should consider not to revive because he was so sick and that would only cause him pain and trauma. On the fourth day in the ICU we got a call at 6am telling me that dads heart could stop any minute to verify that if he heart stop he shouldnt be revived we rushed to the hospital and my father was bloated from waist up he looked like a pregnant woman. Doctors came in and told us that my fathers kidneys were damaged and now his lungs was filled with fluids, due to the fact that they kept giving him blood he was retaining alot of liquid  they asked the family to consider to stop giving him blood, that we were just elongating his death to just let him rest keep sedating him so he wont feel pain, at some point my dad felt so cold and couldn't find his body temperature nurse threw in a bed hugger so they would make him warm.  We had told doctors the day father was induced that his mom is flying in, grandma arrived by the fourth day, strangely doctors kept asking when is your grandma arriving; grandma arrived arrived on the fourth day and that same day father passed away. Strangely that day he was cold, couldnt find body temp, he was extremely large and hours later around 4pm they couldnt find a pulse. Has he passed away and we didnt know yet, did they made it look like he was still alive but he wasnt?

So sorry for your loss. Cirrhosis is a horrible disease. Bleeding esophageal varicies are one of the common causes of death in cirrhosis.

Unfortunately your father experienced a serious loss of blood and was not able to recover.

As far as your question “did they made it look like he was still alive but he wasnt?” I very much doubt they would do something like that. I guess his low temp was probably his body shutting down. There would be no reason for them to continue to maintain him after he had already passed away.

When my mom died they called us to the hospital. She was still in bed with her head held up by a rolled towel. There was no subterfuge about when she had passed.

Again my sympathies to you and your family and those who loved your dad.
