Sorry, I forgot to mention to make sure that you or anyone else does NOT smoke in the house.
Even if you do not see the smoke, the carcinogens are in the room that the baby will be breathing in.
As the baby was checked out by the ER department, they would have told you if there was anything serious and would have treated the baby.
If you have an after care person come to see you and the baby to make sure everything is OK, discuss your concerns with them and also book an appointment to get the baby checked out by your own doctor.
It may be a normal cold virus that will have to run its course, but it is always wise to see your doctor if you have any concerns with a young baby.
Let me know what the doctor's diagnosis is.
Wishing baby a speedy recovery.
Best wishes.
Make an appointment and take the baby to get checked out by your own doctor.
If she had a whooping cough, there would be a sound like a "whoop".
She may have a chest infection, so get her checked out.
Keep her warm and cover her head and ears with a hat when you take her out. Lightly cover her nose and moth so that she does not breath in the cold air when you take her out.
You can buy plug in menthol vapour to help with decongestion.
You can also put a hot bowl of water in her room with some Vick in. Keep it away from the baby and out of reach of any other children.
Have a look in the pharmacy and ask the chemist for baby decongestants. There are some that you put a few drops on a corner of a pillow.
Put a couple of books to raise the head side of her cot so that she is not lying flat and will be able to cough up the mucus.
If you have any animals in the house, keep them away from her and from her bedroom.
Make an appointment to see your own doctor.
