So I woke up this morning and my left ear was hurting very badly and when I swallowed, my ear and throat, which I had these symptoms before. But now it's in both ears and I'm starting to get a little concerned. Is there anything I can do so my throat and ears don't feel so bad? Answer soon!!!

Make an appointment to see your doctor so that he can look into your ear canal and see if you do have an infection.  He/she will also examine your throat to see if there is an infection there too.

If the doctor feels it is a bacterial infection you will be prescribed with an antibiotic and/or an antibacterial ear spray.

In the mean time, take pain relief medication as prescribed on the packet if you are OK with that.  And also do steam inhalations.

To do a steam inhalation, boil up a kettleful of water and pour this into a fairly large bowl (taking care not to get scalded).  Put in some Vick or Olbas Oil or any menthol oil that you like.  Bend your head over the bowl of water and cover your head and the bowl with a large towel.  Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.  Do this for a duration of 10 minutes 4 times each day.

My doctor gave me this advice to help unblock the Eustachian tube that was putting pressure on the ear drum.   I am not able to take any decongestants.

You can also buy some menthol throat lozenges to help unblock any congestion and soothe your throat. Drink plenty of warm drinks.  Hot lemon and honey is nice and soothing.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.
