Constanly falling ill

I have no idea if I have posted in the correct forum. If I havent could someone please direct me to the correct one. thanks!

My problem -
Im a 29 year old male. My problem is that over the last few months I keep falling ill, every week I come down with a feeling of general unwellness (cold type symptoms), fever, sore throat, runny/blocked nose etc. Once I recover from one bout of illness, then the next week I fall ill again. I would say I was in pretty good health. I eat healthy, lots of fruit and veg. Also, spend alot of time in the gym. I am 'overweight' but that is due to muscle mass, not fat mass. I also use supplements (protein powders etc) and thought they may have something to do with my problem. But, i have been using them for years and never had such a problem. The only other thing of note is that a few weeks back when I fell ill, I come out in a red(ish) rash on all over my face and forehead. It went away after about a week. I'm getting seriously worried now, as I think it could be something serious. I went to my doctor and he said if it continues for another month he will do some blood tests. Should I look at getting blood tests done sooner? Anybody got any ideas on what I might be suffering from? It seems as though my immune system has been weakened for some reason. Any advice would be much appricated! Thanks!

If this has been going on for several months...why won't you doctor do the blood tests?  I would make a call a request they be done sooner....why should you have to go thru another month of this with no answers.  Let us know how it goes.

You should go back to your doctor and have the following tests performed:  Strep test, throat culture, CBC, mono test, epstein barr virus test, and probably a general work up. Strep can cause the sore throat rash, fever and runny/stuffy nose.  Mono can cause the fever, runny/stuffy nose, sore throat.  The weird thing about mono is that it can present in different time periods.  Such as one week you might feel bad, then for a month you may feel fine, then the next week you are back to feeling bad, then the next two weeks you feel fine, then the following week you feel ill, etc.  That is why I would recommend a mono test.  This is the season for it.  Sometimes a mono test can give you a false positive, that is why I recommend the Epstein Barr virus test, it will allow the doctors to know if you have had a past, previous or current case of mono.  I hope this helps.  If I were you, I would go back to the doctor and insist on these blood tests.  Im surprised he didnt do any to begin with.  Good luck.
