Yes it is very possible, but it isn't the TMJ that is causing it. It is due to a malpositioned jaw and hyperactive/fatigued muscles, this all falls under TMD. If you can have a consultation with a TMJ expert. Make sure you tell him/her about the meds you have taken and taking.
Can you explain what TMD is in more detail please
Dear Ramin
Doctors have already confirmed that I have damaged my tmj joints and that is because of the strain on these joints during the Dystonic reaction.
I read an articel in a journal on here about how the damage of the TMJ joint can give
Headache
Vertigo
Blurred vison
Neck and back pain
Caused by teeth to become losse and this was confirmed by a Maxofaicle surgon and dentist in New Zealand where I live.
Can you let me know if a damaged TMJ joint can cause Virtgo headaches etc??
Dear Steve,
Maxolon contains the active ingredient metoclopramide hydrochloride, which is a type of medicine called a dopamine antagonist. It works primarily by blocking dopamine receptors found in an area of the brain known as the chemoreceptor trigger zone. Metoclopramide also acts in enhancing the action of a natural chemical called acetylcholine. Increasing the action of acetylcholine results in the tightening of the muscles.
You are right the medication leading to a Dystonic reaction, but Dystonic reactions are rarely life threatening, yet are very uncomfortable and often produce significant anxiety and distress for patients.
I am not sure it is causing any TMJ issues. Lets put is that way it is not the cause for TMJ. Dystonic reactions (ie, dyskinesias) are characterized by intermittent spasmodic or sustained involuntary contractions of muscles in the face, neck, etc. Which can mimic the symptoms of TMD. I am not ruling out TMJ/TMD, therefore I recommend that you have a consultation with a TMJ expert in your area by visiting www.top3dentist.com click on TMJ or Neuromuscular Dentist, enter your zip code and you should be able to find someone.
