Blood while brushing

While brushing my teeth and tongue I notice blood when I spit.  My tongue on the outside appeared to be red.  When I brushed it, my tongue bled again.

You may be brushing your tongue too hard, or you gums could be bleeding. Sometimes if you dont floss enough the gums can bleed and you may not may not see exactly where the blood is coming from. Does your tongue burn or ache when you brush it. You may have something call geographic tongue. It happens when people are under stress. Not too many people have it but it does exist. It can cause your tongue to be more sensitive and bleed.

It's normally gingivitis that causes bleeding while brushing.  This is due to plaque build-up between the gum and tooth.  If your tongue is bleeding you should see your dentist for a closer look at this.
