I had a permanent filliing placed about 7 mos ago and I have had a sharp shooting pain everytime I bite on something grainy ever since. XRays were done and the filling was shown to be too big. The dentist had already filed and filed and filed my tooth prior to taking XRays. After obtaining the results he decided to file the filling, and yes, the sharp shooting pain occurred again. He wanted to place a porcelain cap/crown on the tooth but now he wants to place a medicated filling. When did a medicated filling become the solution to a filling that's too big? Is this appropriate? What are viable alternatives?
I had a temporary filling. They took thar out and now I had a permanet filling. I have not been in pain since. I didnt know if that was normal.. or if I needed to get a root canal.
The filling can be close to the nerve (since they had to drill deeper to get the decay out) thus causing the pain. It should subside eventually. I didn't get from your post. Is the filling temporary or permanent?
