Extreme Ear Pain & Tingly, Itchy Scalp after Dental work

I went to the Dentist to have a filing done one on each of my back teeth at the top on each side. The tooth on the left side of my mouth was broken, the other was not. It was normal, no pain during, I was numbed up and had a Lil gas to relax me. Went home felt normal ñ numbness due to injection it soon wore off. Two days later I came down with what I thought was sinsus related or an ear infection, severe ear pain in front of my ear kinda near my temple, it was intermittent, my sinsus area balls of cheeks hurt a lot of pressure, pain behind left eye. The only thing that helped was Motrin 600-800mg and as soon as it wore off the pain was there. I went to Urgent care explained symptoms treated me for sinusitis have me a Rx for antibiotics. Pain did not cease at all. My scalp is itchy but I cant seem to reach the itch, it tingles and at times it even hurts to TOUCH MY HAIR!!! Went back to Dentist he took an xray but says he didn't see anything in the tooth that would indicate pain.Went to ENT, now the ear pain has moved to what feels like deep inside and my throat is sore on one side,  he looked in ear and nose didn't see anything but said since I was on the Antibiotics it would have cleared up anything sinus infection related. Then he gave me a Rx for Prednidsone and Valtrex! The Prednisone was for inflammation and the Valtrex for my nerves?? which he said could have been triggered by the dental work? I just don't know what to do this itchy tingly scalp is driving me crazy!! I'm going back to another dentist to see if my bite is off, now I do grind my teeth and I have a tooth guard, but is this TMJ related????? I CAN'T TAKE THIS!!

I've got the same issue so even if this isn't the answer you were looking for, you know you're not alone. It's connected to the dental work, I'm thinking about suing the dentist office since no one said anything about this possibly happening

ok went back to dentist saw the Head dentist, he said he doesn't see how it was totally missed that the tooth in front of the tooth I had the initial filing on has a big cavity in it. It was a blackened area on the xray and when he tapped on the tooth it hurt. He also tapped on the tooth with the filing..no pain surprisingly. He said the tooth with the cavity needs the root canal because its too deep to fill and the infection is deep. Now according to him this should aleviate all my ear pain and the nerve tingle in my scalp as all the nerves are connected. The tooth with the filing is not high and the carbon paper thing shows the preliminary bite is good,he thinks the root canal on the tooth in front is the cause. If this does not help what should I do???

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I been searching and searching for answers these doctors sometimes act as if you are either making up symptoms or crazy! I definitely knew it had to be dental related because it started only after that filing !!!!

Your symptoms may be related to occlusal interference of new filling. Going back to your restorative dentist to have bite adjustment is advised. If your dentist can not adjust bite properly, you may need to request removal of existing filling and replaced by temporary filling.
