Full body pain after root canal

Recently i had a root canal in one of my front incisors (not the frontmost two teeth but the ones right next to it, on the top right.) Approx July 9th. One week later (July 16) i went to the er and was diagnosed with an infection (cellulitis) in my knee, which i can confirm started before i had the root canal done. I was prescribed bactrim and 800 mg of Ibuprofen for pain (of which i had none) that same day i went to the dentist again and had two cavities filled and some sealent put on my teeth. (dentist was aware of antibiotics). One week after that, July 23, i was in the er again with swollen finger and i couldnt walk the joint in my whole body hurt. Every morning since then i have woken up in severe joint pain (fingers, elbows, neck, wrists, ankles, toes, hip (inner thigh between pelvic bone), knees (especially knees), back (ribcage and spine), shoulders. I have been diagnosed and rediagnosed with everything from blood clot and allergy to sulfa meds (bactrim) to rheumatoid arthritis and lyme disease from a tick bite (of which i dont remember getting). I am dying in pain and the doctors i've seen cant help me and i dont know if my body can take another antibiotic (3 total) or pain medication (4 total). Now they want me on prednisone for arthritis, even though my tests show normal. My last resort is that it may be a complication from the root canal i had.
Please help!
Is this common?
Have anyone ever heard of this?

*I feel its worth mentioning, that when i rub my nose a certain way i feel pain on the right side of my nose, deep inside, near that tooth.

I've been having  left shoulder reaching down to my collar bone. it seemed to have started after my root canal. Now I have sharp pains in my left knee. The root canal was done on my bottom left side also. I've been going to the chiropractor for a coupe weeks- not doing anything so I went to have an hour massage, still in pain. I'm ready to pull the RC tooth. Any answers?? Before all this I was in great shape, never any pain.

Disease from root canals has long been known (Weston Price and others), but the problem is the dental system has long been shackled to capitalism.  The formula of doing a short lived time bomb repair and making a better solution available after at several times the cost ensures the dentist two bites of the cherry, and those unable to afford a total fix will advertise for them with a genuine fear campaign.  The science of root canal infections was in long ago, long before I was born, yet I was still afflicted with two root canals.  One nearly killed me 14 years ago (MRSA in the tooth), the other is trying it's best now.  GP's are in denial, infectious disease "experts" (zealot gatekeepers) the same.  They have a chronic illness industry to protect and perpetuate, and will do so at the expense of all reason and compassion.   The fact is - Root canals spread chronic illness that will manifest increasingly in many ways (back pain, skin infections and in some cases heart attacks) until the undeniable obvious source emerges, yet the evidence is suppressed.  The reasons for my first root canal failure were clearly stated to me, though the likelihood of a repeat in other RC's was not mentioned, nor written results given.  the next dentist capped a bridge and compromised a live tooth to perpetuate the crime that is endodontics.

A rolling class action using established science will be the only way to prevent this licensed torture - and drive the price of implants to less than the $2-3000/hour rate robbery they currently are.  It can't come soon enough...

Hi!  I've been searching all kinds of posts for help on what my all over pain could be from.  Mine started about 4 weeks after spinal surgery, and I noticed the pain started after low grade fevers started.  For some reason, I logged my pain meds & symptoms after I came home from the hospital, so I have everything dated.  I am going to make an appointment with my Dr...but I wanted to ask you how long your pain lasted and what was it called?  I believe this is not only a dental problem, but that it pertains to a lot of different kinds of surgeries.  Thanks!

Thank you so much and i completely 100% agree with you. I am perfectly fine today and the many doctors i have seen cant explain it. I dont think the medical field takes this root canal business serious. I am by no means a doctor, but i have done my research and there are cases out there just like mine. So if one can go without a root canal i highly recommend it. All i want is what happend to me to help someone else who may be the same situation i was. There are books/information out there about this. But because much of it has holistic or natural undertones, some may not take it seriously.

i'm experiencing the same problem you are describing and i know for sure that this as a result of the root canal treatment i just had.  i heard so many bad things about root canal treatment lately and how every single tooth you have in your mouth affects the whole body...i decided to go and get that tooth pulled out!!!

Widespread infection from jaw bone is rare. However, seeing an endodontist to evaluate the condition is advised.

I have run into the same problem. The pain/swelling all started after I had a root canal done on "31". The tooth had been bothering me for close to two years. The dentist had the leave the tooth open to let it drain for a week before he would be able to work on it. The joint pain first started off in my ankles and knees the first week then moved to my right wrist elbow the second week. The third week it was my left wrist, elbow and both sides of my hips, and the fourth week It has been my lower back and left shoulder. When the pain does travel to a new location, the last joints stay effected. The pain levels very from  9/10 ( no Ibuprofen, Tylenol ) to 3/10 ( with Ibuprofen800+ mg,Tylenol 500mg) I had a RF ( rheumatoid test )  and it was negative. I am going to see a joint specialist soon, to hopefully tell me just what is going on with me.
