Hello! My problem is, yesterday I went to the dentist and he grabbed a turning lathe and said he was going to take the tartar plaque out of my lower frontal teeth.
He dug a canal between those teeth and I'm sure what he removed was not tartar plaque but tooth material instead, because my teeth were always jointed together and now I have a little space between them.
What dentist always try to do is keeping the teeth together and this guy comes and separates them. Now I feel the zone very uneasy because of the spaces he left between teeth, like my teeth feel strange when I bite, and food gets into those little canals when I'm eating (disgusting but it's like that). Plus it's aesthetically worse and I feel like my mouth stinks.
Do you think he did good or bad? Can those little spaces close given time? I'm very worried and upset about this
Thank you!
It sounds as though your dentist removed plaque build-up from the back of your teeth. If you have developed a "black triangle" there it's because the plaque was pushing your gum away from the tooth and now the gum has started to recede.
Keeping plaque from between your teeth is as important as thorough brushing of the front and back of them. This can be accomplished with flossing daily.
You will get used to the sensation of clean teeth, but it's very important that you maintain a dental hygiene program, as black triangles, or what you feel are canals, will worsen if plaque is allowed to form again. Plaque along the gum line can also cause gingivitis and eventual periodontal disease. Keeping the plaque from forming on the teeth can avoid this.
Be sure you brush twice daily and floss once daily. Your teeth are probably clean now and you want to keep them that way. What you see now was caused by allowing plaque to accumulate on your teeth. Your dentist stopped worse things from happening by removing it. The spaces won't close. You only keep them from getting worse by not allowing plaque to form there again.
Hope this helps.
Best to you,
Gellia
