Untreated Crossbite

I have been informed that i have a class III crossbite requiring treatment over 18months at a cost of £5000. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the long term health consequences of leaving the crossbite untreated? The orthodontist says there may be consequences but I have been unable to find out any other information on it?

The critical issue of classlll malocclusion is cosmetic concern, which yields a protrusive lower jaw.Functionally, there is no evidence of predisposing to tmj problems in the future.
