White patch inside mouth and yellow coated tongue

I have 2 white patches inside my mouth bside the wisdom teeth on both sides for about 2 weeks. My tongue is also coated. My doctor says it looks lumpy for the white patches. He says that the yellow coated tongue is not oral thrush. Could he be wrong? What are the causes of lumpy white patches? Could it be oral cancer?

The doctor say it is some kind of virus infection and prescribe antibotics. I have no pain from the white patches but occassionally feels tire in the day.
