What are these red rubbery strands coming out of my broken tooth?

I had a root canal in this tooth but something went wrong. I’ve lost half of the tooth already. The other half is buried in the gum. The strange part is these long red strands that seem to be growing out of the hole. They are elastic and about an inch long. Look like stretched out chewing gum.
