Crown on my molar doesn't feel right

I got a porcelain crown on a bicuspid last year, and it feels as good, if not better, than the original tooth--it felt perfectly natural as soon as it was in. I had one done on a molar a few weeks ago, and I detest it--it feels like a foreign object in my mouth, and it is not shaped like my old tooth at all; the outside of the tooth feels correct, but the inside has a large lump on the front of the tooth, making it stick out from the gum and the tooth in front of it, and it makes the cusp on that side oddly-shaped and interferes with my bite. It also feels "lumpy" rather than smooth on the inside surface. My dentist told me that it "had to" be formed that way to meet up with my lower tooth, but I think the lab screwed up, and that it should be shaped like a natural tooth. I was somewhat surprised that he didn't check my bite before cementing it in; am I stuck with it now? I'm afraid that I'm going to end up with chronic jaw pain from it, and be unable to chew on that side because it feels "off".

Thanks for your response--I was frustrated and annoyed and needed to have my feelings validated and supported. I called my dentist and he had me come in to the office. He spent an hour shaping and smoothing the crown, and told me to give it a week and if I am still unhappy, he would completely re-do it. It feels much better and much more tooth-like, although it might need a little more shaping. It is a little painful to chew on it yet, but that could be a residual effect of the teeth not meeting properly and having to adjust my bite. Here's hoping that I don't have to sit through having a do-over!

You're never stuck, call your dentist and let him know you're not at all happy with the results of this crown.  If he needed to deviate from the shape he should have told you this ahead of time...it sounds to me like he doesn't want to re-do what he screwed up!  If he refuses to do anything about this, contact the Better Business Bureau to get your money back and go to another dentist and have it re-done.  Best wishes and good luck.
