Hey, Nortriptyline turned me extremely aggressive, so back to Mirtazapine again.
On Nortriptyline for 2 days and what I meant by Derealization that I Feel Like I am in a dream. And one other thing, I dont feel sleepy when taking Nortriptyline.
How long now on the Nortrip, just a few days?
I wanted to ask you what you ment by "Derealization"
You mean like feeling dis-attached, or not connected to your environment?
Thx. I am now taking Nortriptyline.... lets see what happens
I should have mentioned that Nortriptilyne also has a strong sedating effect for the first 4 hours after each dose. That's why it's taken at night. The sedating effects wear off by morning at which point the desired (energizing effect) kicks in for the rest of the day.
I am told this sedating side effect is very much like Remeron.
I was actually on Remeron, its good but I had too much of its sedating effect and it causes derealization but improved I guess after adding Diazepam. But all I am looking for is an alternative. Thanks for the reply and I will try to consult with my family doctor with these two drugs and also check the web. :-)
I guess that would be a tough one to know. Simply because it kind of depends on the persons individual biology.
But if I had to take an experience guess, (going by feedback from Tri-cyclic users and my own experience with them) then I would have to vote for Nortriptilyne. I know a lot of people that it has worked for (including myself) and it has fewer reported side effects than Amitriptilyne.
Another option that I have heard a lot of good reports of here on MedHelp is the Tetra-cyclic Remeron. It's a top notch AD med that many seem to be having a lot of success with. I have not tried it (yet) but it's in the arsenal of weapons if I ever need it.
I take a Tri-cyclic and also an SSRI for added punch. I'm in the process of changing the SSRI now and it's killing me.
