Hello, I have had depression for 20 years, and been on a lot of different anti-depressants.  You have to find the one that works for you.  I take Omega 3, multivitamins and vitamin B complex daily.  The better your health, the better you will feel.

If the anti-depressant you are on is not helping, keep trying until you find the one that helps.  Sometimes we have to live with the depression.

Take care

My dr just gave me an rx for Deplin too. Deplin is l-Methylfolate, the breakdown of folic acid. She said it should help with the depression. My Vit D was very low also. I am still waiting for my other bloodwork. I would suggest if you have not gotten your bloodwork done, this would be helpful. Vit B's, Vit D, iron, glutamate and  your Thyroid can all effect your mood and behaviors. This is what I know so far.

You have probably heard this before but exercise, even walking gets your endorphins going which can really help your mood. I know it's hard when your depressed but if you tell yourself this is important to help you feel better, it may help. You could also try a Yoga class or Meditation class. Anything that will help you feel better. Meds help but they may not be able to do it all. We need to help ourselves too. I am working on these things as well.

As for your antidepressant, have you tried others? Some work for us and some don't. If you have tried them all, just know there are other meds out there for depression other than antidepressants. Talk to your psyc dr, tell him how you are feeling, how long you have been feeling this way and that you need to find a solution. There is hope for you to feel better. You have options.

If you keep having bouts or cycles of depression you might want to consider researching and speaking to someone about bipolar 2 and bipolar spectrum disorder.

Drear kcfp,
I am diagnosed with Severe Chronic Depression and have had it for many years.  I take 3 anti-depressants - I have taken over all the anti-depressants available.  The work for a while, then they do not.
One of my anti-depressants is a "mind food" not medication.  It's name is Deplin but you can buy the generic from the same company (do NOT buy the generic from anyone other than them because they have broken through the brain barrier to get the medication to work better.  It will also help you sleep.
I also take Vitamin D.  I have found out that my body loses Vitamin D in a six month time frame from normal to below normal.  Vitamin D3 helps dramatically!!!!
Finally, talk to God daily.  Talk to Him just as you would someone else.  Pour out your heart to Him.  Realize that the word "fair" is not in God's vocabulary - the word "faith" is and when you reach out to Him in faith, He heals you one second at a time.
