Medication and therapy can help immensely. It can take time, but you can learn to manage and to stave off symptoms. It does not mean you will never have symptoms of depression again, but if you learn your triggers and warning signs, you can avoid a lot of the hassle.
Can you cure it? Who knows? But do people fully recover? Yes. Sometimes with help, sometimes spontaneously, but many do recover.
It can be managed, but I have not found anything that can cure it as such. I have been on anti depressants for over 20 years. I have been without now for about 16 months, longest I have been without medication, and so far not too bad at all.
I think we learn to live with it. Anti depressants manage the symptoms, and perhaps we need to take them all our life. I am hoping that I can manage without, but if I felt depression looming again, then I would certainly go back on anti depressants, as they make life bearable.
You say you have had depression for 10 years. Do you take medication?
Depression can be managed. A cure? A good plan. Great Pdoc. The right meds. Talk therapy. Healthy lifestyle. Love. Goals. Having a purpose.
10 years is too long. You can feel better. There is hope. Pamela
This may sound crazy but depression is most often caused by your Growth Hormone level being too low. Since your GH level is very difficult to check and treat it's better to get your LH checked. Your GH level overlaps the LH level and is usually low when depressed. That is why depression is best treated by raising your LH level as this can increase your GH level. I argued this with my endocrinologist and I finally convinced her to give me a GH Stimulation test. The results confirmed that I was growth hormone deficient and needless to say she was shocked as I'm only 36 and look healthy. After taking Clomid an LH analog for 2 weeks my depression and anxiety of 20 years are gone and I feel better than I have in my life and it's still getting better. Google raising GH levels naturally as well and do everything you can find. BTW my growth hormone deficiency is caused by a sleep disorder.
No I don't take medication but I feel better now as i had been thinking about pet therapy so I decided to start with something small so I chose a rabbit! I got it yesterday and since then I have been happy because I know that I have someone by my side no matter what! But I still do get depressed
Oh that is great., I love rabbits. I have a cat whom I love to bits, and like you say, wonderful to have another heartbeat in the house, and a pet to care for.
Sounds like you are coping well, and you seem happy now you have a companion. Bless you, and take care. What have you called your rabbit?
It is a beautiful light grey so I decided to call it Pixie. Thank you for the support you have been wonderful
