start little by little in diminishing the amounts of "lexapro" (20mg)
1st by taking one pill 4 times a week. Then, by cutting them in half , take it like that for a week (6 or 7 days) . Start Switching "Soloft" at the same time as indicated by your Psychiatrist... Reduce lexapro mg. less and less every week until you reach only 1 (1/2 a pill) aproximately for the last week...Then take them (1/2) twice for the last month until nothing...
Usually when my doctor is replacing one medication with another, she does not taper. She just switches them out. When I am going through a medication switch I sometimes feel more tired and grumpy. Kind of like PMS. LOL. I think you will be ok.
Hugs
When my doc has switched meds, he tapers the one down while slowly starting the other one. I ever never switched meds cold turkey and didn't think you could. But it sounds like it worked for both of you. I am diagnosed BP2 and it took a while to find a combo that works ( at least for now, this is the longest I have gone with out having to switch- about 4 months) I am currently a walking med chest, lol....30 mg. lexapro. 350 lamitical, 1 mg klonopin, 3 times a day. I also take 200 mg. Seraquel at night which puts me out. I am also on pain management, due to osteoarthritis in my lower back....10 mg. percoset a day. It use to bother me having to take all these drugs, but it came down to quality of life. I have been doing much better. Hope this helps.
