Hi,
I understand quite well what your fiance must be going through, mine too is more of the same but with a different obsession, it started with me at 19 1/2, initial days would have been tough for him but eventually he will learn to enjoy life most of us. I too get obsessed about my type, when I remember it or am alone, its worrying disease leading to depression and anxiety.
Am out of it but stuck with another, obsessions change from one form to another....the mind keeps ramming issues thats hard to solve and where it gets stuck the most, leading to inner conflicts depriving oneself of peace, please ask him not to focus on solving the irrational problem and rather focus on having a peaceful approach with himself <<< this might be little difficult to understand, but once able to get the idea, he will be at more ease, eventually having required energy to complete most of the task with less trouble, life wont be a drag.
His case is very similar to mine, which encouraged me to reply! I was on chlofranil.....but left it within weeks as it had side effects on me which worsened my case.........along with zapiz too was prescribed, which worked wonders, now am in and out of it, medication is no more a compulsion for me. :)
The thoughts are their but my reaction to them has largely changed, I witness them rather than participate in my mind.
Hi Shwetha,
Nothing to worry, help him to live better with the medicines. There are still better medicines in the market with less side effects. Have a discussion with your psychiatrist. Since u have not mentioned of any symptoms of the illness there is no clear picture of his illness.....
He must take these medicines for a long time just to keep his symptoms away and there is nothing bad as long as he is fine with these drugs..
Talk therapy may help , is there a good councellor in Pune?
Ask him to avoid wheat completely for few weeks . There are brain allergies to glutten in wheat and can cause depression and other mental problems . He should take a good multivitamin and specially b vitamins which are good for nervous system . I can't tell you more . Pls keep me updated ***@**** , btw I am also from India..
Best luck !
