Weaning off Depakote

I am weaning off 500 mg of Depakote. My pdoc said I can take it every other day for 10 days and stop. Does this sound too quick?

Thanks for the additional info.  I agree that it sounds a bit quick.  I think you should tell your doc you would like to go a little slower, just for your comfort level.

It does sound a bit quick to me, but then I am the other way.  I am in my 10th month of withdrawal from Effexor.  So slow I have had no withdrawals.

If your doctor thinks the every other day method will work for you, then perhaps he is right.  You do sound unsure though.  Personally I would advise reducing the dosage slowly over several weeks at leasr=t.  Up to you though.

Good luck, and let us know ho you get on.

How long have you been on the Depakote?  Is this doc a specialist, or your PCP?
