Hello,

If a med isn't working after about 6 weeks to 2 months you should either discuss an increase in dose or ceasing and changing. Not every two weeks though like some do as that's pointless.

If you drink a lot of alcohol then please don't bother with meds. It too is pointless.

Either drink or take meds, not both as alcohol destroys any effects of meds. So really you do not know if this med may help or not as you have been drinking it all away.

What can you do? Get serious or just keep drinking. SImple choice. Yours.

You shouldn't drink alcohol while on that medication and you shouldn't drink a lot of caffeine if you have problems sleeping.  Mirtazapine is one of those strange medications that sedates you less if you take it whole, versus breaking it in half.  Also, you might need a higher dose.  Are you getting therapy?  Usually, the meds can help, but they don't do the job all by themselves.   You also need to see someone on a regular basis to get the full affect.  Hope that helped.

This one was completely useless for me.

I stayed awake nearly 24/7 for four weeks + the doc said, "it should sedate you", she kept upping tthe dose, i nearly enede up in the river!

I switched Doctor and took cymbalta, brilliant.

Another one that did nothing for me was Welbutrin useless

everyone is different, if you dont see improvement after 4 weeks go back
good luck, you don't have to fee like this. x
