coming off of Efefexor

I feel very fortunate to have found this forum.  I have really felt like I am going insane.  I have never really been a depressed person before.  I went on Effexor because of multiple happenings in my life at the time and I felt that I needed a little extra help.  That was two years ago.  I stayed on it because my doctor said it would help with my menopausal symptoms.  Now that I have weaned off of it... just... I feel worse than I ever have.  My question is;  How long do these withdrawal symptoms last?

OK, this is the second time I have heard the phrase "brain zaps".  For the third day running now (on and off in the past) I have had a feeling like a pinched nerve in my neck.  I turn my head either way and a "zap" goes down my my neck and through my left side.  It also goes up into my brain.  Is that a "brain zap"?    Thank you for your encouraging words.  I keep hearing that symptoms will last  for up to 3 months, but I was only on a very lose dose.  I hope it will only be a couple of weeks.  Crying is really hard for me.  To do it all day long is a little unnerving.

It feels like forever, but they shouldn't last too long.  Maybe two weeks or so.  I would think.  I recently tried Effexor and couldn't take it.  I was on it for 8 days and I now have some withdrawal symptoms like brain zaps.  So I feel for you.  Hope you feel better soon.
