i don't want to take anti-depressants

i don't want to take anti-depressantsthat I am suffering from depression. I have not yet told my mum , but if I was to she would want to take me to see the doctor, I was just wondering would the doctor prescribe me with some sort of anti-depressants, because I don't want to take them , I feel like they will change me , and I will no longer be myself i will be some drugged up happy  freak. Please help!

Talk to your mom about how you're feeling. They will not always prescribe medication. I think it's best to try therapy first to find out why you're depressed. The therapist can also help you with coping skills to deal with your depression. There are many people who are treated with therapy alone and no meds.
